Clay County Jail Roster
The official local route for Clay County inmate records is the Kologik Public Jail Roster linked from the Clay County Sheriff's Office. The roster agency name endpoint returned Clay COSO, and the public interface was free with no login observed. It is tied to Clay County Jail, the single detention facility resolved in the facility map.
The roster should be read as a current-custody search, not as a complete Clay County arrest archive. During research, the all-current endpoint returned live records, letter filters returned records, and the recent-bookings endpoint returned an empty array. History mode was not available through the inspected public interface. If the person was released or transferred, the roster may no longer be the right source.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office page identifies Sheriff Sidney "Kirk" Horton, lists the office address and phone, and links the jail roster button used for public inmate lookup.
That sheriff page is the best starting point when the roster URL changes, because it is the county's own navigation source for the public jail roster.
Search Clay County Inmates
A strong Clay County inmate lookup uses both the visible roster tools and the fallback routes documented by the sheriff. Start with the name, then use the letter controls or all-current view if the recent-bookings panel does not show results. The public record can include multiple charge rows, so each charge and bond line should be read on its own.
- Open the Clay County sheriff page and use the Jail Roster button, or go straight to the Kologik Public Jail Roster.
- Use Name Filter for a first, middle, or last name. The app code checks all three name fields.
- Use alphabet buttons if the last-name first letter is known. The inspected API accepted letter filters.
- Open or read the inmate card for booking date, arrival date, arresting agency, days in jail, charges, warrant number, and bond amount.
- If no record appears, check release, transfer, TDCJ, BOP, ICE, VINELink, or the sheriff Records Division instead of assuming the person was never booked.
Clay County Roster Fields
The Kologik roster search tools are simple, but the research found important behavior behind them. The recent-bookings control was present, yet the API returned no rows for that view during inspection. The all-current and letter-filter paths were more useful for finding current Clay County Jail records.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name Filter | Text | No | Client-side filter checks last, first, and middle names. No wildcard was required. |
| Order By | Dropdown | No | App code supports sorting by days in jail. |
| Recent Bookings | Button or tab | No | Visible control, but the inspected API returned an empty array. |
| Alphabet letter controls | Clickable filters | No | Filters by first letter of the last name. |
| ALL/current roster | Route/API state | No | Returned all current records during inspection. |
| History mode | Hidden app mode | Not user-selectable | History check returned disabled, so released-inmate history was not located. |
The Clay COSO Kologik roster displays the roster interface where those filters are used.
Because the public roster is a live custody tool, a missing result should lead to the Records Division, TDCJ, BOP, ICE, or the relevant court rather than to a broad conclusion.
Clay County Inmate Profile Details
Clay County inmate records in Kologik are built from booking fields, demographic fields, agency fields, and charge arrays. The public page can show a photo area, name, age, sex, race, booking date and time, arresting agency, days in jail, charge rows, bond rows, and a VINE link when configured. The inspected Clay County endpoint did not return Clay-specific VINE site parameters, so VINELink should be treated as a separate notification channel.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| CCN / booking control number | Public control number used by the roster photo endpoint. |
| First, middle, last, suffix | Name fields shown separately in the record data. |
| DOB year, age, sex, race | Basic identifiers and demographics shown in public fields. |
| Height, weight, eyes, hair | Physical description fields, often abbreviated. |
| Book and arrival times | Booking timestamp and arrival timestamp, which can be different. |
| Arresting agency | Agency such as Clay COSO or Texas DPS. |
| Days in jail | Roster-calculated custody duration at the time of viewing. |
| Charges | Charge code, charge type, warrant number, bond amount, and charge text where available. |
| Cell number | A field exists, but inspected Clay records had it blank. |
| Mugshot/photo | The app requests a photo by agency ORI and CCN when a public image is available. |
Clay County Charges and Bonds
A Clay County jail roster charge is not the same as a conviction. It can be an arrest charge, warrant label, motion to revoke, or hold that later becomes a different filed court charge. Sample roster rows inspected in June 2026 included Clay COSO and Texas DPS as arresting agencies, felony charge types such as F2, F3, and FS, warrant numbers, and per-charge bond amounts.
Texas bond rules come from Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 17. A person may still remain in jail if one charge has a bond but another row has a no-bond hold, bench warrant, motion to revoke, state hold, out-of-county hold, federal hold, or ICE detainer. Call the jail or court of jurisdiction before relying on one bond number.
Note: Clay County official pages did not publish a jail bond desk schedule or online bond payment route.
Request Clay County Jail Records
When the public roster does not show enough detail, the sheriff Records Division is the official fallback for existing sheriff records. The Clay County Sheriff's Office open-records page gives the records hours, request channels, and response timing. The sheriff's Open Records Request form includes "Jail face sheet" as a selectable record type, which is the key phrase for booking-record users.
The open-records page shows the Records Division instructions and the email channel for public-information requests.
For a stronger request, include the subject name, date of birth, date of incident or arrest, case or incident number, and any known warrant number. The form asks for a government-issued picture ID copy. The page says fax requests are not accepted and asks requesters to allow up to 10 business days.

Clay County Jail Contact
The Clay County Jail and sheriff's office share the public-contact address and main phone listed in official county material. The same address is used for sheriff records requests. Official sources did not publish a separate jail administrator name, detention commander, 24-hour booking desk number, or jail lobby counter schedule beyond the main sheriff contact.

Clay County Jail Visits
Official Clay County pages reviewed did not publish a visitation schedule, video-visit vendor, visitor list rule, dress code, or visitor lobby hours. That gap should be handled plainly. Call the jail before traveling and ask whether visits are in person or video, whether the inmate must add visitors to a list, what ID is required, and whether any visits are suspended.
| Topic | Official Finding | Practical Step |
|---|---|---|
| Published visit schedule | Not located in official sources. | Call (940) 538-5611 before travel. |
| Video visits | Vendor and schedule not located. | Ask whether visits are video, in person, or unavailable. |
| Visitor ID | No local rule located. | Ask what ID is required and when to arrive. |
| Visitor entry | No entrance or property list located. | Confirm entrance, prohibited items, and lockers. |
Mail and Money Questions
Clay County official sources did not publish a jail commissary vendor, online deposit portal, kiosk rule, phone vendor, tablet program, or money-deposit fee table. Do not confuse those jail money questions with the District Clerk's Certified Payments note, which applies to civil fees and felony criminal court costs and carries a convenience fee.
For mail, money, phone, or commissary, call Clay County Jail before sending funds or mail. Ask for the approved mailing address format, whether the inmate's CCN or full name is required, which phone or video vendor is active, and whether deposits are accepted online, by kiosk, or only through another local process.
State and Federal Inmate Lookup
Clay County inmate records stop being local jail records once the person moves to a different custody system. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmate search is for sentenced state prisoners, not current Clay County pretrial detainees. TDCJ can be searched by name, SID number, current TDCJ number, or previous TDCJ numbers, with wildcard support explained in official help.
| System | Use It For | Search Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Clay COSO Kologik roster | Current Clay County Jail inmates. | Name filter, letter controls, all-current view. |
| TDCJ inmate search | Sentenced Texas state prisoners. | Name, SID, TDCJ number, previous-number search. |
| BOP inmate locator | Federal BOP custody and some historical federal records. | Search by number or name fields. |
| ICE Online Detainee Locator | Immigration detention. | A-Number and country, or biographical fields. |
| VINELink | Custody and release notifications where available. | Use as an alert channel, not the only search source. |
